Connecticut’s telemarketing law

Connecticut amended its telemarketing law effective October 1, 2023. On top of the federal TCPA, it generally:

  • covers sales calls and texts, including messages sent through internet platforms,
  • limits them to between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., a later start than federal rules,
  • requires prior express written consent for telephonic sales calls, with some exemptions,
  • requires the caller to give their identity, the business and the purpose within the first 10 seconds, and to offer to end the call or remove the customer from the calling list,
  • requires ending the call within 10 seconds if the customer asks, and
  • presumes a call or text to a Connecticut area code reaches a Connecticut resident.

Violations can bring civil penalties of up to $20,000 each, plus remedies under the Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act. Our team honors opt-outs immediately and respects your CRM’s do-not-contact flags. This is general information, not legal advice. Your dealership’s attorney should review your consent forms and outreach policies.
