Washington’s Spanish-speaking car buyers

Washington’s Hispanic population is one of the fastest-growing in the Northwest. It’s concentrated in the Yakima Valley, the Tri-Cities and Wenatchee, and found across the Puget Sound region from Everett to Tacoma. Many customers are bilingual, but plenty prefer to talk through financing, trade values and repairs in Spanish. Call Contact Confirm works every lead and call in English or Spanish, whichever the customer prefers. See bilingual BDC.

Washington’s telemarketing law

Washington updated its telemarketing rules in 2022 and again in 2023. On top of the federal TCPA, its law (RCW 80.36.390) generally requires that a sales caller:

  • identifies themselves, the business and the purpose of the call within the first 30 seconds,
  • ends the call within 10 seconds if the person says they want to end it,
  • does not call after 8 p.m.,
  • honors do-not-call requests, and
  • does not call Washington numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry, a rule Washington added to state law in 2023.

Violations count as unfair or deceptive practices under the state’s Consumer Protection Act, so consumers can sue. Commercial text messages to Washington cell phones are also regulated under a separate state law. Our team honors opt-outs immediately and respects your CRM’s do-not-contact flags. This is general information, not legal advice. Your dealership’s attorney should review your outreach policies.

Calling hours on the West Coast

Federal rules don’t allow sales calls before 8 a.m., and Washington cuts calls off at 8 p.m. We plan coverage based on your dealership’s hours, Monday through Saturday.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Washington's telemarketing law require?

In general terms, Washington's law (RCW 80.36.390) requires a telephone solicitor to identify themselves, the business they represent and the purpose of the call within the first 30 seconds, to end the call within 10 seconds if the person wants out, and to honor do-not-call requests. It also bars sales calls after 8 p.m. and, since 2023, calls to Washington numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry. This is general information, not legal advice; your dealership's counsel should advise on your situation.

Can consumers sue under Washington's law?

Yes. Violations are treated as unfair or deceptive practices under Washington's Consumer Protection Act, which allows consumers to sue. That's why following these rules on every call matters.
