Ohio’s Telephone Solicitation Sales Act

On top of the federal TCPA, Ohio’s Telephone Solicitation Sales Act (R.C. Chapter 4719) generally:

  • requires telephone solicitors to obtain a certificate of registration from the Ohio Attorney General,
  • requires filing a $50,000 surety bond with the Attorney General,
  • sets disclosure requirements for sales calls, and
  • prohibits blocking caller ID.

The law has a number of exemptions, so whether registration applies depends on the details of the outreach. Violations can also be pursued under Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act.

Our team honors opt-outs immediately and respects your CRM’s do-not-contact flags, and we plan coverage based on your dealership’s hours, Monday through Saturday. This is general information, not legal advice. Your dealership’s attorney should review your outreach policies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ohio's Telephone Solicitation Sales Act?

In general terms, Ohio's Telephone Solicitation Sales Act (R.C. Chapter 4719) requires telephone solicitors to register with the Ohio Attorney General and file a $50,000 surety bond unless an exemption applies, sets disclosure rules for sales calls, and prohibits blocking caller ID. Several exemptions exist, so whether it applies depends on how your outreach is set up. This is general information, not legal advice; your dealership's counsel should advise on your situation.
