North Carolina’s fast-growing Spanish-speaking market

North Carolina has one of the fastest-growing Hispanic populations in the country, with large Mexican, Puerto Rican, Salvadoran, Honduran and Guatemalan communities in Charlotte, the Triangle, the Triad and rural counties across the state. Many customers are bilingual, but plenty prefer to talk through financing, trade values and repairs in Spanish. Call Contact Confirm works every lead and call in English or Spanish, whichever the customer prefers. See bilingual BDC.

North Carolina’s telephone solicitation law

On top of the federal TCPA, North Carolina has its own telephone solicitation law (N.C.G.S. 75-100 and following). In general terms, it:

  • applies to calls and texts into North Carolina, wherever the caller is located,
  • prohibits solicitations to numbers on the Do Not Call Registry, unless an exception such as an established business relationship applies,
  • requires callers to identify the business and the individual calling at the start of the call,
  • requires removing a customer from the contact list when they ask, and
  • lets consumers sue for $500, then $1,000, then $5,000 for repeat violations within two years.

North Carolina’s law generally treats a customer’s inquiry within the past three months, or a purchase within the past 18 months, as an established business relationship, which is relevant to many dealership leads. Our team honors opt-outs immediately and respects your CRM’s do-not-contact flags. This is general information, not legal advice. Your dealership’s attorney should review how these rules apply to your store.
